I have changed my work status at the hospital to casual so I can have more availability. My hours have been updated up to March 17, 2024.
There were some changes to SunLife claim submissions by practitioners, so I am unable to direct bill for SunLife insurance members until further notice. An official receipt can be sent via email or printed for you.
My maternity leave has ended and I will return back to the hospital full-time so I will be on a completely different schedule as of April 3, 2023. Until I get my nursing schedule for my return, I am unable to book any appointments AFTER April 3. The system will not allow me to reflect this on the booking page.
Apologies for any inconvenience. Please check back on March 31 for my updated schedule.
* Opening November 21st! *
I am very excited to announce that I will finally be re-opening on November 21st! I am still on maternity leave with my nursing side so my hours will be quite limited due to childcare as Mina is still too young for daycare.
That being said, my plan is one client per day Monday to Friday and open on Saturday mornings.
The hours will vary a lot to go around my husband's schedule so he can look after the little one. Best choice is the book online which will open on November 20th.
* NEWEST MEMBER OF THE FAMILY! *
I am thrilled to introduce my little girl, Mina Serrano Kazi. She was born on February 19, 2022. That being said, I will be on maternity leave and hope to re-open by November 2022.
I hope to see you all again and feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or in need of recommendations.
* CONSTRUCTION UPDATE *
I am very sorry to say that the basement is still not completed. Penguin Basement Renovations has been a complete disaster with delay after delay. When we hired this company, projected completion date was for the end of August. Now being the end of November we still have no date of completion as of yet so I will no longer provide a projected date either to avoid further disappointment.
I will contact all my previous and potential clients of when I will re-open via email.
I hope to see you all again and feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or in need of recommendations.
* UPDATE *
It's been a long time everybody!
Construction had some hiccups causing delay to my re-opening but things are finally happening again! Here is a picture of the new space. Hard to see but I'll have a nice little spot soon enough.
Projected completion September 15, 2021.
Again, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions or if you need recommendations to other RMT's.
Yours in health,
Larissa Serrano Kazi
* COVID-19 UPDATE *
Due to Premier Ford's Emergency Order to shut down all surgeries except for emergency surgeries announced on April 8, my department's workload has significantly decreased. As a result I have been redeployed to work in another patient area and on a whole different work schedule.
The patient care area that I've been redeployed to was recently deemed as COVID positive active. This means that I will be working with COVID positive patients and/or asymptomatic patients.
For the safety of all my clients and reduce possible transmission (even though I am fully vaccinated), I have decided to shut down my business. All appointments already booked will be cancelled.
Ford's emergency order is projected for 4 weeks, depending on the provincial daily case counts.
The emergency order also crosses my moving timeline. I suspect that I will be closed until construction of my new practice space is complete.
Please do your part by respecting social distancing and masking. Stay safe.
Yours in health,
Larissa Serrano Kazi
On February 12 I got my 2nd/booster Pfizer vaccine! I got really sick the very next day. Here's the breakdown:
Friday Feb 12 @ 6pm: vaccine
Saturday Feb 13 @ 1pm: got super sick!
It hit me like a ton of bricks I got:
- extremely fatigued
- fever through the night
- sensitivity to light
- dizzy
- light headed
- flushed
Sunday Feb 14: I was completely back to normal :)
On January 8th, I received my 1st dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine!
My arm was heavy, sore and weak that evening and the next day.
Unfortunately due to the delayed shipments of Pfizer vaccines as of late, my 2nd shot (the booster shot) which was at the 3 week mark was cancelled.
I've now been rescheduled for my booster on February 12.
Accounts from others who've received their booster shot, they say that the side effects after the 2nd shot are worse than the 1st.
Therefore I will be closed February 12 & 13.
Here's hoping for the best!
In light of the new stay-at-home orders introduced by the Government of Ontario, massage therapy remains open as it is a healthcare service which is essential.
How do you know if your massage need is essential?
According to the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario):
"Massage Therapy treatment is considered essential when it can be demonstrated that the client’s overall health or function would considerably decline if treatment were not provided (i.e. lead to hospitalization or other serious health consequences). "
Mental health and well-being is certainly important especially during this time. Before making an appointment, consider the risk-benefit to both yourself and massage therapists.
For all existing and future appointments, the cancellation policy will be waived as long as the pandemic persists. It would benefit everyone if an appointment is cancelled any time there is doubt about your current health condition.
Due to the massive spike of new cases, I am adopting a new policy in regards to masks. Cloth masks will no longer be acceptable as appropriate cover because the gaps at the nose and the proximity that I could possibly be to your face. Therefore procedure or surgical masks are required during massage
If you do not have such a mask, one will be provided free of charge for the first time and then $1 there after.
In regards to risk to the public and the fact that I am also a nurse: the Operating Room remains open at this time. Exposure to COVID positive patients is quite low and we are well equipped with appropriate PPE. In the event that I am redeployed to a COVID unit, I will close my massage business temporarily.
Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
Stay safe,
Larissa Serrano Kazi
